Ministry Audit
Revd. Deborah Duguid-May
This stewardship season, starting on October 13th, we will have white board paper along the walls of the sanctuary with current ministry opportunities we have. We will be asking everyone to look at these and see which ministries they would like to get involved in.
If there is something you are currently doing that is not listed, please add it to the sheets. And if there is something you would love to do that we are not currently engaged in, please add it and your name to it.
We will be using this to gauge what ministries we can sustain going forward, and what ministries we may need to start.
Thank you to each of you for your love and compassion and skill that you share with us and our world!
Bishop Visit
Revd. Deborah Duguid-May
On 6 October we were blessed to have our new Bishop Kara come to confirm and receive 14 of our members. This was truly a historic moment in this diocese, and parish, as she is our first woman bishop, and thus the first woman bishop to confirm and receive members of our congregation. We are grateful to Steve Richards and Carl Thorpe for the congregational photo we now have marking this historic moment.
The day began with the bishop meeting with those being confirmed and received over breakfast. A really deep time of conversation around faith and what has brought us to this point ensued. People shared deeply and honestly in a very profound conversation.
Thereafter, the bishop robed and went outside the church to begin the service with an ancient liturgy of asking to be let into the church. She banged on the door with her crozier (shepherd’s staff) asking to be let in, and the wardens and rector opened the doors officially for her. She was greeted by the congregation in the foyer and was handed beautiful hand-made flowers by the children.
We then processed into the church, and Bishop Kara was taken to her bishop’s chair in our sanctuary.
As this day fell on the day we remember St. Francis, our beautiful animals and photos of them were brought up to the altar for blessing.
After mass, the congregation had the opportunity of getting to know the bishop over coffee hour. It was truly a beautiful day for those who worshipped in person, and for those who worshipped via zoom.
We pray that Bishop Kara will be deeply blessed as our bishop!
Trinity Podcasts
Rev. Deborah Duguid-May, Elizabeth Thorpe, and Carl Thorpe
Trinity is proud to announce that our first podcast, The Priest & The Prof, will be launching this month.
In the last few years, Trinity’s digital ministry has grown in ways we could not have predicted. This podcast is a way for us to expand our virtual reach even further. Our church has become an example for other churches to follow in terms of how to be an online presence, and this is one more way that we can reach people from all walks of life in their own spaces and places.
The podcast is an exploration of what it means to be Episcopalian in the modern world. Specifically, we explore politics, culture, art, and philosophy from the perspective of the faithful.
This project is hosted by Rev. Deborah Duguid-May and Dr. M. Elizabeth Thorpe. It is produced by Carl Thorpe.
In addition to the conversations, we will also be launching separate podcasts that include liturgies, prayers, meditations, and sermons.
All of these podcasts will be available in multiple formats and from multiple sources. Carl Thorpe will be demonstrating all the ways you can access this content both in person and online.
